Before arriving into Australia, ensure that you have the certificate copy of your Overseas Students Health Cover (OSHC). Students must not arrive into Australia before the start date of the OSHC. On arrival into Australia, it is important that you contact your OSHC provider and let them know the date of your arrival.
On grant of your student visa by the Department of Home Affairs, you may check on your entitlements as a student when you arrive into Australia. Please click on the link VEVO to know all about your visa entitlements.
Students must go through the information that was send to them regarding ORIENTATION. It is mandatory to attend the Orientation, failing which, a student may be considered as a non-Commenced student, and Confirmation of Enrolments (eCOEs) may be cancelled. It is important to make arrangements to arrive to campus 30 mins earlier to ensure that registration process is all completed before ORIENTATION starts.
After attending the ORIENTATION, it is important that you get your Student ID from DOLPH Business School. This may take minimum one week to obtain and so be prepared. You would need Student ID to open your Bank Account, or some other registrations.
Both International students as well as Local Australian students must have a Unique Student Identifier (USI) when undertaking any nationally accredited course in the Vocational Sector. If you want to know more about USI, please click on USI. Once you are granted a student visa, please go online and register with your passport details for a USI number. Please visit the USI website to register for your USI number by clicking on Register USI. You must then submit the USI number to DOLPH Business School to register on to their Student Management System.
International students who arrive into Australia to study whether it is at DOLPH Business School or any other institution must study their course in a safe environment. The Australian Government has regulations to ensure students enjoy quality education within the fair legal and consumer protection framework. The ESOS Act 2000 gives international students the policies, legislation and standards they should be aware of while a student at an education provider. Before starting your journey into Australia, it is important that you organise yourself an accommodation, either sharing with someone you may already know, someone you could trust, or book into a hotel within the city which is cheaper for few days atleast and then once you arrive in Australia, you can find another alternative accommodation. Before obtaining boarding tickets, you may need to show the Student Visa Copy at the airport of embarkation. Usually, your passport is already linked to the visa and it would be available in the system at the airport. Ensure that you carry a copy of the Student Visa.
On arrival finally at the destination airport in Australia, you will need to present your Passport to Australian Immigration at the airport of Entry. Once you are cleared and stamped on passport, you may then retrieve your baggage and then go through the customs to exit from the Airport.
You may organise airport pick-up to go to your pre-determined place of stay or accommodation. There are Taxi services available at the airport or you may use SKY-BUS facilities that takes you from Melbourne Airport to Southern Cross Railway Station. From there it is easier to find your way to your accommodation. Public Transport system is good and you can use the Myki Card on public transport both Metro Buses and Metro Trains.
Australian customs and border control has strict regulations as to what you can bring into Australia as an incoming passenger from another country. Even there are restrictions between states. Fines, penalty including jail terms apply for non-declaration of goods that are not allowed to be brought into Australia. There are strict regulations in place by Australian Immigration and Customs authority. Please follow the requirements as they apply to you by clicking on COVID-19.
A Laptop is a must to study in Australia and a mobile phone is necessary to stay in communication. Please make sure you carry the battery chargers. The Australian electric socket and plug could be different from other countries and you may need to bring along an adaptor to match to Australian Standards.

It is necessary that you share with your family back home, all your details including your accommodation, course details, location of campus of DOLPH Business School, contact details of the school and contact details of friends and family in Australia.

Please ensure that you carry sufficient money to allow you to live in Australia for 1 – 3 months minimum until you settle down with the proper accommodation, and you could find a job. It may be necessary to bring with you $2000 to $4000 either in cash or international credit cards, or travellers’ cheques. If you carry any foreign currency, that has to be converted into Australian Dollars before you can use them in Australia.
After you arrive into Australia, please do open a Bank Account. There are several Banks in Australia. You may make your choice through your personal research. However, we use Commonwealth bank for DOLPH Business School. You may need to produce Student ID, Passport, and Visa copy any other documents to the bank.
When departing from your home country, please check with your bank if your ATM card will work on ATMs (Automatic Teller Machines) in Australia. Usually, the ATMs with the logo Cirrus should allow you to access money from your ATM card. ATMs are located in several locations in Melbourne including at Melbourne Airport. An international transaction fee may apply when you use your ATM card from your home country.
All major international credit cards (VISA/MasterCard/AMEX) are accepted in Australia but you must remember that repayments to many of these cards can only be made in the country where they were issued. Obtaining a credit card from an Australian Bank may not be feasible unless you are able to show evidence of income in Australia or other information. Please check the requirements before applying for a credit card in Australia.
You may be required to apply for Tax File Number if you have an Australian source of Income or you are planning to work in Australia as a student. Without a TFN you may not be able to register or be offered a job as the employer has to deduct tax based on the TFN. Please click on this link to apply for TFN
