As a DOLPH student, you’ll experience a real work environment during the work placement which forms part of the course at local community service organisations.

This qualification reflects the role of community services workers involved in the delivery, management and coordination of person-centred services to individuals, groups, and communities.

At this level, workers have specialised skills in community services and work autonomously within their scope of practice under broad directions from senior management.

Workers support people to make changes in their lives to improve personal and social wellbeing and may also have responsibility for the supervision of other workers and volunteers. They may also undertake case management and program coordination.

To achieve this qualification, the candidate must have completed at least 400 hours of work as detailed in the Assessment Requirements of units of competency.

The skills in this qualification must be applied in accordance with Commonwealth and State or Territory legislation, Australian standards and industry codes of practice.

Students who successfully qualify in CHC52021 Diploma of Community Services Management, will be able to enrol into CHC62015 Advanced Diploma of Community Sector Management, also into Bachelor of Community Services or Bachelor of Social Work and could be eligible for credit exemptions.

Students who successfully qualify in SIT50422 Diploma of Hospitality Management will be able to enrol into further studies in Advanced Diploma level or Undergraduate programs and could be eligible for credit exemptions.

Duration

All International students must study on-campus 104 weeks to successfully complete the Diploma of Community Services program. This includes break-weeks in between terms or study periods as well as Work Placement hours.

Classes are rostered for 2 days per week + self-directed study component.

Full Time study requires students to attend a minimum of 20 scheduled course contact hours per week

  • Must be at least 18 years of age or over at the time of commencement of the course.
  • Completed Year 12 (Australian VCE) or equivalent.
  • International students must meet Student Visa requirements and provide evidence of English language proficiency with a minimum score of IELTS 5.5 or equivalent or study minimum of 6 weeks of upper intermediate level ELICOS at approved education providers.
  • Prospective international students seeking enrollment for VET courses at Dolph Business School (DBS) will have to complete a placement test to assess their Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) skills. This allows DBS trainers and assessors to assess student’s capability to pursue the qualifications enrolled, and then support and assist students who may need extra attention at the time of enrollment or throughout their period of study. DBS may also recommend students to enrol into an English course for a required period if needed at any other school that provides English Language Intensive Course for Overseas Learners (ELICOS) programs.
  • Must be able to obtain a Working with Children Check & NDIS Worker Screening Check.

During the pre-enrolment process the students are made aware of the availability of: Credit Transfer (CT) - CT is the recognition of learning achieved through formal education and training. Under the Standards for Registered Training Organisations 2015, qualifications and statements of attainment issued by any Registered Training Organisation are to be accepted and recognised by all other RTOs. Credit transfer allows a student to attain competency in a unit that has already been successfully awarded by the previous Registered Training Organisation.

Students are required to apply in writing for Credit Transfer for relevant units. Their application may be for partial or total completion of the qualification and must be submitted prior to course commencement. Each Credit Transfer unit allows the candidate to reduce the time, study load and costs associated with achieving the qualification.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) – RPL is the formal process used to recognise skills and knowledge which has been attained over a period of time within the student’s employment or work life experience.

The RPL and CT application processes are advised to students in pre-enrolment information in accordance with Dolph Business School’s policy: RPL Policy and Procedure Credit Transfer Policy and Procedure.

Assessment will be undertaken via classroom through knowledge assessments, practical assessments, simulation tasks, project work, case studies and field work placement assessments.

$22,000 is tuition fees only for the full course. DOLPH Business School has the right to change tuition fees, material fees or enrollment fees whenever it is appropriate to do so.

Students must pay materials fee additionally which include the following:

  • Course Study Resources which include digital versions or hard copies of learner resources for each unit of study.
  • Apart from the above there may be other fees including a one-time application fee of $200 which is not refundable.

Local Students

On-Campus: Fees are invoiced upfront beginning of each term or with a payment plan.

Online: The first $1,500 is invoiced prior to the commencement of the course, and the balance is invoiced in installments during the duration of the course.

International students

As per the ESOS Act 2000, DBS can request for up to 50% of the tuition fees for a course upfront for International students. All other fees are payable on due dates as stipulated in the Offer Letter as well as at Orientation date.

On-campus: Fees are payable within 7 days of receiving an invoice from Dolph Business School or on the due date. However, fees are payable 14 days prior to the start of each term, whether an invoice has been received or not. There would be a late fee chargeable for overdue fees, please refer for more information on the "Fees and charges" page.
